Movie Review: Mr. Popper's Penguins

A story of a city guy who inherits penguins and change his life from selfishness to emm goodness. This is not a spoiler. If you can't predict the ending of this story, you have never seen a movie before! It's a story we've seen a thousand times. I can count on the top of my head almost 5 movies I've seen with the same plot. Same old same old. It's also a classis book, I believe, so if you read it, you don't need spoilers :p.
Jim Carry, *sigh* he's becoming worse, me think. I dunno, but his sense of humor looks fake to me even though I know this is his style. It's just not working anymore. I used to like it, I still love "Yes Man", but this one was too childish for me I guess.
It's a sweet movie for kids. If you have couple of those, take them for this movie. It has some good laughs and the penguins are so so cute. They outshined Mr. Carry. A good movie for family night too, so you can wait till you'll be able to rent it. You're not missing much.
Over and out ;)
P. S: Capitan America wasn't released here this week and it won't be next week!! Even the Smurf will be late here to us :'(!!! I can't believe this!! It's not good for blog business, but they are on my watchlist and it should be on yours as well!! I'm dying internally from this!!!

Movie Review: Notorious

These days I'm in the mood for some classics. I can't help being drawn to them. They have this charming allure about them that steal your heart away.
One of them, which I shall call it from now own a "favorite", a movie by the amazing, Alfred Hitchcock, Notorious. OMG, it felt like something filmed in these days not made over than 70 years ago.
It's so thrill, so intense and so very artistic!! The story of the daughter of a German spy, (Ingrid Bergman) who will be asked by an American agent (Cary Grant) to become an informant. You know, spy movies and their plots. This movie however was fascinating! Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman were astonishing! I loved the romance, the emotions in this film and I was so tensed up, wanting to know what'll happen next!
This is the first time I watched a Hitchcock movie and believe me when I say he's a genius! Absolutely brilliant!! I loved this movie and I'm the girl who lived to see Avatar!! I'm not saying everyone is blue in the movie, quite the contrary; it's in black and white. What I mean is it's just timeless!! The dialogue, the directing, the acting, the sceneries are just perfect!!
It's like admiring a Roman sculpture; it still capture our minds and souls even though it's been around for many many years!!

Movie Review: Gentlemen Prefer Blonds

The mazing classic, Gentlemen Prefer Blonds is one of my favorite classical movies. I saw it four times already and I’m sure I’ll watch it more. IT’s funny, charming and full with music! You can never forget this movie when you see it.
It’s so fun and totally enjoyable. Classics always have their own captivating charm, but this one is surely one of the best! IT’s seriously timeless!! I loved Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell, they had an awesome chemistry and they made a great cast. The movie is romantic, hilarious, thrilling and much much more!!
It host the hit song, Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend. Lorelei Lee must be the most successful gold digger in the history, haha!!
Really fun movie and should be on your classical list ;)

Movie Review: Just Go With It

Not a lot of Romance Comedy movies catch my eyes, but when I see Adam Sandler I have to take a look. The movie, Just go with it is hilarious!! I mean was, LOL!!
The idea is kinda cool too; Adam playing the role of a man who lies to women by saying he's married, then just get lost in his web of lies. We all know the ending,  I mean we rarely ever get surprised by these kind of movie, but here the comedy really saves the romance. Adam Sandler is a really funny dude! He does have some bad movies, but this one is a hit.
Normally I hate the way Jinnifer Aniston acts, but she was good in this movie; relaxed and funny! She got her Friends' sense of humor back, thank God. She had some bad movies, ah!
You will LAUGH!! I guarantee it ;) it's the kind of movies you see whenever you're feeling low. It will cheer you up!!!
P.S: sorry for the short post…still recovering from the ending of Harry Potter </3

Movie Review: Harry Potter

*Spoil Alert! If you haven’t seen these movies, be careful, I may reveal some of the plot's secret ;p*
Today I had the Harry Potter Marathon, preparing myself for the last movie on Thursday. Harry Potter for me is my obsession!!!! I looooooooooooove harry potter books and movies!!!  I'm a huge Harry Potter Geek, haha!!! :D!!! I mean the story is pure puuuure MAGIC!!!!! I got the chill when I hear the line "The Boy Who Lived"!! The details in the books are amazing, I always go on and on about the genuineness of the plot! From the first book to the last everything is connected. I think it's why these books and movies are loved all around the world, it because it sounds real! I like to think it's real and my letter just got lost in the mail :p or the owl died or something haha! Told you, huge Geek :p.
Anyhow this blog is about movies, so I'll try my best to focus on the Harry Potter movies and for that let's start with the Sorcerer's Stone ;)

It's the beginning of all the Magic! We like Harry are introduced to Magic, Hogwarts, spells and the best of all Quidditch :D. Also we meet the rest of the characters, who will be eternal!!! We feel slightly awkward, like we're a first year students too, which is good, because we put ourselves in Harry, Ron and Hermione's shoes.
Also it's awesome too to see all the things we read about in the book come to life. The special effects weren't high quality, but I guess that's because it's the first movie and the people making it didn’t know whether it'll be a hit or not.
Still, Magic and a MUST SEE!!!!!
The Chamber of Secrets,

Here, we feel more comfortable about being in Hogwarts. We feel the happiness of being there. The actors are more into the character than in the first movie and the special effects are definitely better.
I love all the new spells we see. Loved the Dueling Club!!!! I also loved the Barrow!! So sweet and cute!! I'm happy they really recreated the book in an awesome way! I also LOVE Dobby!!!! He's sooooo adorable!!!
It's so fun to see the adventure of the three friends who will always be in our hearts and memories.  Also we can never forget Richard Harris (Professor Dumbledore) even though it was his last movie, whenever I read Dumbledore's line in the books, I always hear his voice.
So, do I need to tell you, you need to see it :p?
The Prisoner of Azkaban,

This is my favorite!!!! The kids are all grown up and we meet Sirius Black and Professor Lupin!!!!  And Buckbeak!!! I love him!! I want one hehehehe!!! Loved the scene when Harry rode it, very magical <3!! And Harry gets the second awesome magical item (after the invisibility cloak) the marauders map and the Time Turner!!!
This part has better, way much better special effects and I loved the new changes in Hogwarts. The plot has become bigger, darker and more complicated. It's the start of the real action!!! :D!!
The way this movie was made in somehow an artistic way. It also make you feel the story is real, more than the previous ones. I think because the actors had become more spontaneous and relax in their own skin. I also like the Omen of Death and the dark air in this part; make the movie less childish I guess.
The movie is so magical, colorful, exciting and super amazing!!!
SEE IT!!! ;p
The Goblet of Fire,

Action packed!!!! The Quidditch world cup is EXCITING!!! And the triwizard tournament is so so WICKED!!! I mean dragons, mermaids, foreign cute wizards and witches and of course the climax of the movie the return of You Know Who!!!!
There are a lot of things happening in this part, even more in the book. The fourth book is double the size of the first three, so I finally accepted the fact that many details were missed in the movie.
But this is one of the best parts because it keeps you on edge. Many things happening, happy, funny, sad, scary and all kinds of emotions!!!
The more we get into the story of harry potter the more magic we're exposed to and in the all of that was captured in the movies. I so loved them!!!! :D!!!
The thing about Harry Potter books and movies is something I can't really explain. It makes you get deep into the story and make you feel it's the only real thing and everything around you is magical. It enchants you in a weird amazing way.
The Order of the Phoenix,

This is the first harry potter book I read from the entire serious and by far my favorite!!! After Deathly hallows of course ;). The tricky thing is that the books are getting a lot bigger but the movies can't be any longer, so many cool details were missed in this part. I'm a huge harry potter geek of course so I was sad about that. I want to see everything!!!
But there's still a lot of awesome scenes and fun in this part! Lots of new characters and the cast of the movie really make you feel the fear they have and the suffering that awaits them. The war has started and the Order is at work!! I loved the ministry!! Really looks like what the ministry of magic should look like.
The new school year in Hogwarts is a lot of fun! It's even more fun in the book, but in the movie we have the hilarious Dolores Umbridge, Dumbledore's army and the department of mysterious!!! Helena Bonham Carter was genius as Bellatrix Lestrange!! Loved her act.
Even though a lot of awesome scene was missed in the movie, many others are filmed in an amazing way! The battle scene in the end is so COOL and Sirius death was heartbreaking </3!!!!

The Half-Blood Prince,

This movie was such a disappointment. They didn't film Dumbledore's funeral!!! It hurt my feeling! Dumbledore is someone we love and care about, we cried when we read his death scene and I wanted to attend his funeral. Harry Potter's characters for me and I'm sure for most of the readers are part of their lives. I was and still very angry that that scene wasn't in the movie!
In the end as well before his death there was supposed to be a cool fighting scene and it was so lame in the movie!! Aah!! You can tell this is my least part of the whole serious. Not the book though…loved that one!!!  Good thing they filmed the Quidditch matches!
I read once that the economic depression that hit the world couple of years ago was the reason that this part wasn't as good as the others, but I dunno.
I think the movie looked like a teenage movie with some action. Daniel Radcliffe wasn't that good too. He somehow stepped out of the Harry Potter character. The real Harry Potter (yes, I call him the real one :p) in the book has more life in him. And don't get me start talking about Bonnie Wright who was supposed to be playing Ginny Weasley, but real Ginny is so much cooler, funnier and deep. Bonnie looked off to me, didn't get her role right. I even liked the Tom Riddle in Chamber of Secrets more the one in this part.
The rest of the actors for me were amazing in their performance! Tom Felton was brilliant as Draco. You can feel the conflict inside his head and the hard job he has to finish.
The movie is fun to watch as well. A little bite charming, funny too.  I cried in the end, I couldn't help it!
The Deathly Hallows, Part 1,

This part is amazing, amazing, amaaaaaZing!!!! I loved it from the beginning till the end. When it came out my imagination was suffering from the stress of school but when I saw Deathly Hallows, it sorta woke up!! All my senses were alerted and the love of magic was regained!! So this movie has a special emotional value to me <3
Emma Watson's acting was mesmerizing. She really captivated me with the way she was very believable.  The way Hermione wiped the memory of her parents just broke my heart and you can feel the pain in her eyes; very genuine and sincere. Dobby too was so cute and it killed me to see him die!!
The wedding was sweet <3 cool happy moment before the last war.
The effects are amazingand the movie got back to its artistic form.
I really can't express my emotions and love of this part. It's just MAGIC!!!!! The Ultimate Magic!!!
It’s  4 am here and first thing in the morning I'll get the tickets to Part 2!!!!!!!
Harry Potter and his magical world will always live in our hearts, minds and dreams <3

Movie Review: Robin Hood

Many weeks ago I've bought Robin Hood's DVD, director's cut, but I didn't have the time to watch it till now. I've been dying to since I saw the movie in theater and I was hooked.
I love history as I said in older posts and my favorites are myths and legends. Those stories that we can never be sure they happened. I think that give them a bite of mystery and magic ;).
Anyhow, who doesn't know about the legend of Robin Hood? I mean same old story, but in this movie we are shown the past and how Robin Longstride became the "Robin Hood".  The movie has a sense of reality in them (I guess I feel that because the only other version was the Disney one :p with the animals).
The movie is epic and it had a sense of humor; a good combination. It should defiantly be a Classic! I LOVE this movie and yes, I know I love a lot of movies, but this one is for those who enjoy heroism, romance, epic, battles, fighting for a cause, actions and of course, the touch of destiny.

I can't also talk about this movie without talking about the amazing, Cate Blanchett. Her acting is one of my favorites. In this movie she really caught the essence of her character, Lady Marion. She was spontaneous in her acting and very very believable. She's one of those actors that I wish I could write a part for her and maybe I will one day.
Russell Crowe <3 I don't think it'll be fair for me to write a review about him while little hearts floats around my head as I write this post, hehehe. But *waving the hearts away* Russell Crowe is perfect for these kind of roles. I knew that since I saw him in Gladiator. His voice, his eyes and the way he moves are just the right elements for a true warrior. And who knows, maybe he was one in a previous life.
I really enjoyed the movie and I will see it again! There was not one single moment of boredom. Very entertaining and full of excitement.

Movie Review: The Mummy - The Mummy Returns

AND I LOVE IT!!  My ultimate favorite movies is The Mummy and The Mummy Returns (1999&2001). I mean I LOVE these two movies. They have it all; great story, awesome cute handsome cast (who can actually act!! hehehe) and the thing I look for the most in movies: MAGIC!!!
I mean everything in the movie just scream with ancientness and enchantments. The use of the ancient history of Egypt in this movie is so captivating. After 3000 years, the Egyptian curses still amaze and wow us.
I'm a history geek! I love the ancient civilization; Greece, Rome, Babylon and the most mysterious Ancient Egypt.
The movie has well done visual effects and the music is just aaah, brilliant!! I mean the melodies hook us and fill you up with all this ancient and captivating emotions.
I love also the Romance in the movie, it adds to the beauty of the movie. I mean talk about true love and fairy tales.
O_O << this is how I will look at you if I found out that you have never seen these movies!! SEE THEM!!! They're AMAZING. A song I love, click here!

Movie Review: Hanna

The reason why I wanted to see the movie, Hanna, was Cate Blanchett; she is just amazing!! I mean her acting reached perfection!!!
I am biased because she's in it ;p but the movie was an average one. We laughed a little bit and I liked how Saoirse Ronan acted. She has a bright future!
But it was predictable and the story repeated.  The story of Hanna who was trained to kill is a story we've seen before, like in Salt. The best scene I've seen was in the trailer. That’s why I hate trailers!! They ruin the movie.
The story and the mystery of Hanna wasn't explained in a good way, I mean we knew it all by the first half an hour and some of the fight scenes seemed fake.
What I really hated about the movie was Tom Hollander, I mean he's great normally, but this time couldn't capture the personality of the psycho.
It was fun, but I won't buy the DVD, so here you go :p.

Movie Review: Cars 2

This sequel of Cars is so fun!! Its action packed!! I mean; spies, world touring, weapons and so much more!! It was so interesting to see how the human spying ways turned to cars', hehehe.
The scenery in the movie looked real!! The place I loved the most was the race in Italy <3. The whole movie was done in a professional and creative way which was awesome and the plot is more complex than the first movie, which I loved!!
Mater was super super funny, I mean LOL!! He's so adorable!! And I loved how in this movie he was more involved. He makes you wish you got a best friend like him.
I'm trying to express my enjoyment about the movie without having to spoil anything, hehe.
What I can say is: it beats the first movie! The kids will defiantly enjoy it and the parents won't be bored at all by it ;)
Beware of the Pistachio ice-cream, haha!!!
P.S: The3D cut didn't give me a headache, so if you shouldn't hesitate in seeing cars 2 in 3D ;). 3D is always better with animation!

Movie Review: From Time to Time

As I finally got the time to relax and watch some of my new DVDs, I saw one I bought couple of weeks ago. I know we're not supposed to judge the book by its cover, but who are we kidding?? We always do that! Anyhow, the movie is "From Time to Time".
The movie sets its events in 1944, in the end of World War II, when a British young boy moves to live with his grandmother. His heart is full with worry about his missing father, but his mind is busy with figuring the secrets of the house.
The movie is sweet and it’s a nice bedtime movie; not a lot of action and not much of a romance, but still nice and interesting. It's a movie to see when you're just relaxing.
I got the movie as a DVD and I'm glad it wasn't released on theater, I wouldn't like it much. Not a good movie to see with friends or when you want to see something blow up.
Not much to say about it.

Movie Review: Transformers 3

Finally I had the time to go to the movies!! It's like I'm alive again <3!!!
When I was in Transformers 3, I was a little bored at first, but then I was blown away!!! So when you are in the theater don't leave your seat and just wait! The movie last two hours and a half, but it's good, if they rushed the story it'll feel weird. The battle scenes  in the end are amazing. The whole visual effects are sooo cool!! The last half hour was worth it!! I cried couple of times. I even wanted to hug Optimus Prime, hehehe.
The Autobots are so amazing! I love Optimus Prime; his voice is so majestic and all of them stand for freedom and loyalty, something that people really need to learn. The Autobots have this old warriors' air in them. Can they be turned to people, please ;p?
Also, what I liked about the movie is some unexpected turn outs. It so beats the second one, but the first one is the best without a doubt.
When I read on IMDB about Shia LaBeouf leaving the movie, I felt sad, but now as I saw him in the third part I saw the need for a new story and new characters. He wasn't funny anymore. The Autobots and the Decepticons are timeless characters who will always be loved by us, but the plot needs something or rather someone new.
