Movie Review: Mr. Peabody & Sherman

I always enjoy a good animation! This is not the ultimate best one, but it’s fun and entertaining with beautiful historical scenery. It has time travel, soo it’s good hehehe!

It’s the story of super smart genius dog, Mr. Peabody (v/ Ty Burrell) who adopts a boy, Sherman (v/ Max Charles) and Mr. Peabody is so smart he invented a time machine which he calls, The Way Back (I thought that was pretty smart). Everything is great until Sherman starts school and in the first day he ends up in a fight with Penny (v/ Ariel Winter). To fix it Mr. Peabody invites her and her parents (v/ Stephen Colbert and Leslie Mann) and during dinner Sherman and Penny go into the Way Back and get into a lot of fun trouble!

Other than the flawless animation, the movie highlight so many important events in the history of mankind and its entertaining and educating for kids to see, though as an adult you have to explain what really actually happened hahaha. Also the movie sends a great message, which is the acceptance of the difference between people and how the normal life to someone is unnatural to someone else, but it doesn’t mean it’s wrong. I like that. It’s a good thing to teach the young generations.

The only odd thing in the movie for me was how, Ty portrayed a very smart and poised character in the movie hehehe I’m used to him being funny and clumsy in Modern Family, so it took me a minute to get used to it. But the movie is still a good fun!

Movie Review: Chef

Such a ymmy positive and cheerful movie!! It’s the kind of movies that makes you feel good after watching it! I think I will watch this again!

Ok, so it’s the story of Chef Carl Casper (Jon Favreau) who was preparing a special menu to this food critic/blogger (Oliver Platt) when the owner of the restaurant (Dustin Hoffman) forced him to use their ten years old very traditional menu. The critic wrote a bad review that got viral on Twitter. When Carl was with his son (Emjay Anthony), he asked him to sign him up for twitter and started a heated tweet battle with the blogger. And from there, Carl’s life changes completely!

It’s so so so fun! It’s playful and just makes you want to just eat a sandwich in a park and listen to music! Just to enjoy!! The way they integrated social media is so fun and the tiny special effects used when the tweets are sent is so so so freaking cute!! And the way that Carl knows nothing about social media and how his son, who’s like 9 or 10 is acting like his social media specialist. It shows how the reality of today is affected by the social media and also how those who are not using it are suffering to be heard.
This whole thing made the movie traditional with a modern twist!

The cast are just amazing and have great chemistry together! The kid is so cute and good in his portray of Carl’s son. Jon Favreau is awesome! He was so funny and really gave the movie the feel it needs to succeed.

The movie is just so colorful and full with music and food. Though there is a lot of pork, but it’s fine, I just imagine I’ll be ordering the chicken sandwich hahahaha. You’ll get what I mean when you watch the movie. Oh! And there’s a road trip!! Shows us such amazing places! I always wanted to go on a road trip and eat from all the famous tiny diners!!

So, just watch it and remember me when you smile ;)!

Till the next one!

Movie Review: Into The Storm

Now that’s what I call a THRILLING movie!! OMG!! I was holding my breath and clutching on my sister’s arm through the storm scenes!! OMG!!

It’s the story of a bunch of people who were caught in the storm, including high school students and tornado hunters. It’s so so so good!! I gasped so many times and CRIED! I felt dizzy after the movie!
It was shot in a way that it’s like a Documentary, but don’t let that get to you. They made it in an AWESOME way! I didn’t even feel it! The footages were super clear and you could see every angel. The director, Steven Quale, did a great job.

The movie plays with our emotions, oh boy! You will cry! I felt heartbroken as you see the people stuck in the storm and others looking for their loved ones! It’s so INTENSE! Oh, man, what a ride! It’s like seriously being there with those people and living through the storm and the big humongous tornado!

The cast is great! No big names, but it doesn’t matter. They all played their part well and didn’t ruin the movie on us! That was amazing, because you know what one bad casting call can do to a movie.

Let me not forget how FUNNY it was as well! It made me laugh as much as it made me cry! It just so so freaking GOOD! It will put you in the edge of your seat, holding your breath and waiting for that scary moment to pass!

I can’t believe I haven’t seen this one before! It’s still in the movies, so go watch it! It’s really good for movie night with friends.

Movie Review: Matilda

The movie review I am bringing to you today is that of Matilda (Mara Wilson). A fantasy movie from the year 1996 and a perfect watch for the family at home on a weekend. It's hilarious, enjoyable, and also has its own share of exaggerations but I am sure you will enjoy it.

Based on Roald Dahl's popular book, this fantasy explores themes of youthful independence and personal identity. Personally, I have always been a fan of Roald Dahl stories and this is just another one.

The fun comes through the exaggerated situations and roles in the movie. Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman (Matilda’s father and mother) portray the ultimate self-centered, dysfunctional, TV-addicted adult living. They don’t let Matilda go to school because they think she is four. She is really 6 1/2. When stuck for a real answer to her valid arguments, daddy DeVito’s best response is “because I’m big and you’re small. I’m smart and you’re dumb. I’m right and you’re wrong.”

She does get to school eventually, but it’s more of the same. The principal is a big, strong, surly woman who throws boys out of windows and swings a sweet young girl over a fence by her pigtails. It is cartoon-style violence; no one is ever really hurt. In the midst of her troubles, Matilda develops a “miraculous” power.

There are few people who don't sometimes feel unappreciated, misused, and misunderstood. Those are the feelings that Matilda recognizes and confronts. Young Matilda has a hard time with a family who don't seem to understand how special she is. Yet she never lets this get her down for long, always making the best of whatever situation she's in.

Matilda is a good film for all ages to enjoy. The story includes a lot of cartoonish violence, nearly all of it perpetrated by a bullying school principal. Children who displease the evil principal are put in "the chokey," a dark closet lined with nails and broken glass. When Matilda's parents aren't neglecting her, they're berating her ... so she decides to punish them. But she also stands up for the principal's victims.  The violence depicted in the story is very unrealistic and truly exaggerated. Hence, there is no harm in children watching it at all.

It’s a good movie for all the ages.

Movie Review: Ride Along

Ride Along tells the story of a flamboyant guy who’s in love with 2 things, his girlfriend and his Xbox. In order to get the girl he loves, he needs to impress and get the blessing of her brother who’s this “beat ‘em up kill ‘em all” kind of guy. You will be surprised to know that Ride Along was written in 2011 and the studio bought it and kept it on the shelf till Kevin Hart came along to revive it with Ice Cube as a producer and a lead actor on it.

The movie stars Kevin Hart and O'Shea (Ice Cube) Jackson and Laurence Fishburne who play Omar the ultimate bad guy in the movie.

I like Kevin Hart. He is funny as hell and you can tell he has been through a lot before making it. He can hold a scene like no other actor and he even was praised by the likes of (Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock…..etc.) .In this movie he is amazing. His performance screams funny even when he is not trying. Ice cube on the other hand as always excels when he is supposed to be the lead in the movie the guy who saves the day and the guy everybody looks up to (you know the kind).

The movie is a killer. It’s full of laughs full of funny scenes and full of things that don't make sense. I would call the movie typical comedy. Yeah I would call it that. Because it's about a guy who is a weak and meek and have to faces his fears to get with the woman he loves. That’s the plot simplified no twists no breaking the mold. So why did it kill the box office and had the biggest opening on Martin Luther King Day? Because of the actors, because of the punch lines in the movie, because of moments when Ice Cube takes Kevin Hart to the gun range to see what he was made of and if he can he handle a gun and Kevin ends up in the trash can and when Kevin Hart pretended to be Omar. Laurence Fishburne plays an unexpected funny maniac killer. It should be noted that Ice Cube plays a cop and the significance of this note is his past (N.W.A). But he is far behind from that now.

There is a real chemistry between the two actors, an unexpected chemistry might I add. Just watch this interview done while they were promoting the movie and you will see that they have an off camera chemistry as well as on camera.

I watched this movie when I was on Dubai and I bought it on BluRay and trust me it was worth it, because the extra features were amazing and funny. I can’t wait for the sequel to drop in 2016.
P.S: the A-team movie sucks so much that I wrote this review while watching it.
