Movie Review: R.I.P.D

My biggest disappointment of this summer!!! Why Robert Schwentke?? Why!!!! You did Red, which is fun and The Time Traveler’s Wife which I loved!! What happened????

It was so boring, my sister actually fell asleep and my friend was texting throughout the film and I actually turned and said, let’s leave this!
It was so boring!!! The story is about a police officer who died and joined the Rest In Peace Department who captured the souls who escaped hell. The film is badly written. You can barely understand what’s happening and it is such a bad, very bad rip off of Men in Black! Same story line, but worse. A LOT worse! Oh, it's based on a Comic. Still, it wasn't any good.
Look, I love Ryan Reynolds, but I think his best is in Romantic Comedies. Not this or at least choose a movie with better script! Jeff Bridges, I have no words to describe what I’m thinking. So disappointed.
Such a fail! This is what happens when I trust a trailer!!!
Let’s hope what I watch next will be better.

Movie Review: The Wolverine

I was waiting for this film! Mainly because I LOVE Hugh Jackman and also because the X-Men are one of my favorite superheroes. They just have the perfect fantasy-reality blend! And also because Hugh Jackman is the Wolverine!!!

Ok, to be more series and professional, it’s the story of our dear Logan dealing with the aftermath of Jean’s (Famke Janssen) death. He excluded himself from society and everyone and left to live in the mountain. As he finally accepted his loneliness, a man he ones saved reached out to him. You see he was dying and flew Logan all over to Japan to say goodbye to him, but little did Logan knew that this man wanted his healing powers in return to give him a mortal life.
For me, The Wolverine is one of the best films of the summer. Whenever you see a sequel you feel the doubts, but this film is actually enjoyable and good! You never regret seeing it and you actually would want to see it again. It didn’t have a lot of X-Men in it; the focus was mainly on The Wolverine, but it was backed with ninjas!! I love physical fights more than guns and weapons. You can see the art of movement.
The setting in Japan really gave the film a nice atmosphere. You would think it will be cliché, cus we saw a lot of movies now shot in Japan, but it really worked for this film. We moved from the crowded city to the southern villages and them into the snow covered mountains. It’s really beautiful.
The Japanese cast was awesome! They really casted some of their best. Sometimes the casting crew go crazy (like in Pacific Rim), but this time all of them really elevated the film. Hugh Jackman for me will always be an amazing and talented actor! Their something about him that you actually believe the words he says. The pain in Logan’s eyes and his struggle with his guilt and nightmares needs to be genuine and Hugh actually delivered it. I just love him! (If he wasn’t The Wolverine, he’s make an excellent Batman!! Instead of Ben Affleck, ah!)

Anyways! Watch this film!! Waaaatch it!!!

Movie Review: The Internship

I’m finally back from my vacation and ready to get back to the movie world! As always I love watching films on the plane! Such a fun free way to see new films haha!
After thinking for a bit, I decided to watch. The Internship.  So, Billy (Vince Vaughn) and Nick (Owen Wilson) are two oldie salesmen who got fired and in their attempts to find new jobs, they enroll in an internship in Google, the place everyone would love to work in (mostly for the nap rooms hahaha). Competing with the brightest students is not easy for Billy and Nick, so they try more unconventional ways to get by.
It’s a fun film to watch. It’s very interesting to see the Google environment and the fun gadgets and buildings they have. It has a very light and inspiring feeling to it. It’s a good ‘I’m bored, what should I watch’ film, but it’s a one-time film. If you see it again, it’ll be just plain boring.
The only thing that disappointed me, was the fact that it wasn’t as funny as you’d expect from the duo that brought us the Wedding Crashers! It was fun with some hehe scenes, but nothing that cracked me up! The film took a more inspiring take to the concept.
But, it’s a good film. If you don’t wanna see it, it won’t hurt, but if you’re bored and you’re flipping through the channels and saw it was on, keep watching. It’s fun!

Movie Review: The Croods

Ok! So after restarting my seat TV thingie three times in the plane, I managed to search for a good movie that I have missed in theaters or a fun classic. I found ‘The Croods’. I heard so many good things about this film and thought why not! And it was the best choice ever!!!!
So, what is it about? It’s a story of a family of cave family who lives in fear and tries to survive until the daughter, Eep (Emma Stone) meets a new stranger, Guy (Ryan Reynolds) and take the family into a whole new adventure, because as Guy says, the world was about to end and they need to follow the light.
This is for sure is on top of my favorite animations list!! Just by watching the trailer you’d know what I mean! But don’t! It’s more fun that way. The story is so creative and the scenery and setting is so beautiful.
It’s so humorous too!! I love how the creators gathered all the cavemen stereotypes and created fun and great characters. It was made in a really good and positive way!!
It’s also so so magical. It fills you with hope and dreams!! I love it! And there’s action too!! The hunting scenes are so exciting. The scene I loved the most was when Eeb tried her first shoes, hahahahahahahahahaha you have to see it to know what I’m talking about!!
I love Emma Stone and so happy she was in this movie!! She was really good as Eep and also I didn’t mind Eep’s father, Grug (Nicolas Cage). This is probably the only film I can love with Nicolas Cage in it! No offense to him, but I hate his acting!! Glade he wasn’t bad in this film or else I’d be super mad!
So, just follow the light and stop being afraid, that’s the message of this film and it was delivered in the most fun way ever!!!
You must watch this!! and OMG!! I just saw there's The Croods 2 in 2017!! *happy dance*
Till I review again!

Movie Review: Despicable Me 2

Ok! I love the first movie so so so so so so so very much!! Whenever I feel bad or bored, Despicable Me is the movie to watch and now there’s a sequel!! Yaaaaaay! If you didn’t see the first one, GO WATCH IT!!!!

This is a must see animation!! It’s a classic!! I mean the yellow minions became a huge phenomenon after the first movie!!

Two things in this film that will kill me with cuteness, the yellow hilarious super awesome minions (hahahahahaahahhahahahahahaha) and Agnes (Elsie Fisher)!!! The unicorn cuty girl!! I love it!!

So Gru (Steve Carell) is back with the girls to have a new adventure but this time, they’re fighting villains with Agent Lucy (Kristen Wiig).  Cool evil gadgets and funny funny scenes!! Loved it! It made me feel good!!

Don’t miss this FUUUUN film!! It’s amazing and made me laugh so hard!! I love it!! I’m so happy I wasn’t disappointed in the sequel. You know me; I always worry about these things!!

Well, till the next one!

Movie Review: Pacific Rim

Ok, so you have alien attack and big awesome giant alien killing robots! What else do you want?? It’s true that it’s the same ‘OMG the world is ending’ story, but that’s not why we go watch these films, we watch them for the fight scenes, for the bump of adrenaline caused by all the awesomeness and of course a rocking soundtrack!

So, aliens crept out of a portal deep in the Pacific oceans, and to fight them, the humans built humungous robots that are run by two pilots each to defend Earth. To close the portal once and for all a retired fighter gathered all the Jaegers and their pilots for one final mission.

What is impressive about these robots was they use martial art compact style more than relying only on weapons, which gave us the viewers killer awesome scenes. I love the robots and their names. I mean one is called, Gipsy Danger. How cool is that!! Also I loved how simply evolved the technology is in this movie. I mean it’s set in 2020, which is 7 years from now, so we won’t be having cars that flies yet. Even though the robots can only be moved by two humans who will mentally connect through a drifting device. Yes, that’s so evolved, but it was done in a very subtle way that didn’t look over the top or too fake. It’s a real cool sci-fi idea!

Other than the fight scenes that got me on the edge of my seat, something else would make me want to watch this film again, Charlie Day as Dr. Newton Geiszler. He was crazy hilarious!!! A great casting choice! Not like some others, Rinko Kikuchi in her performance as Mako Mori. With all due respect, she was irritating!! I hate it when someone force the sadness out of them! Like, ‘I’m a hurt character, feel sorry for me’ bleeeh!!

So, yes it’s a clichéd idea with predictable twists, but it’s an awesome, funny and fun summer movie! You won’t regret watching this on the big screen!! It’s a make you feel good kind of movie! So go enjoy it, summer season is almost over!!

Next review, Despicable Me 2!

Movie Review: The Heat

It's soso funny!!! I couldn’t stop laughing from the first scene!!!!!This comedy is one of the best I’ve seen in years!! The story of super professional and arrogant Special Agent Ashburn (Sandra Bullock) and the mischievous crazy, officer Mullins (Melissa McCarthy). This is by far one of my favorite comedy duo ever!!
The film is full with action, hilarious scenes and fun times!!! It’s one of my favorite films of the summer!! You will continue to laugh even hours after it ends!! Even though I saw it yesterday, it still can make me crack up!!
It’s pretty obvious the film will be a hit when you put two amazing funny actresses together. You can’t go wrong with it! And you know what else I loved about the film?? The film delivered so much more than the trailer promised!!! Which is what a great movie is all about!! I hate it when funny films assemble all the funny scenes in the trailer! I’m so glad this one is different!!
I’m so getting the DVD!!
Oh! And I got a pile of classics from Amazon the other day! So will do some retro reviewing soon!!
Till then,

Movie Review: Monster University

I’ve been waiting for this film since they announced it two years ago! Monsters Inc. is still one of my favorite Pixar films! (Well, who am I kiddin? I love them all) and to have another Monster movie was too exciting!!!
The Pixar magic started with the cutest short film about a blue umbrella! It’s so cute and the animation is amaaazing! So pretty and cute!! The kids as always won’t enjoy it, but for me it was just the perfect short film to start Monsters University.
So! The story of how Mike (Billy Crystal) and Sully (John Goodman) met at university. I will not comment on the great job the animators do to make the whole university experience come to life because it’s Disney and Pixar, it should be a given thing!
The thing that excited me and I loved was the “Scare Games” so fun!!! I really enjoyed it and it was funny too. Seeing all the games we normally play in the human world transformed to the monster world is so creative!
My only negative comment would be the fact that the story is so predictable (I know most films are), but this was a usual university film. The subject of fitting in and showing everyone how amazing you are, you know, the underdog life. That bothered me, because I wanted something more original (They better do that with Finding Dory!)
But, it’s still fun, inspiring and really funny! Just to go back to that world is an exciting experience. So there is flaws to it, but don’t let that ruin the experience. Go see it!!
And btw, book your ticket way early!! The cinemas are backed!!

Till the next one,

Movie Review: World War Z

To be honest I thought this film will flop! I didn’t believe in it and as always I LOVE it when I’m SURPRISED!!! Brad Pitt really pulled it off! It really is a summer movie not to be missed!
The film is about a deadly zombie epidemic spreading across the globe and Gerry (Brad Pitt) an ex UN employee is called to help in finding the source of the virus and hopefully the antidote with it. It’s the same old zombie story, but I liked how this film elevated the quality and the professionalism of a ‘zombie’ film.  It was more real and about the virus more than the guns and violent.
I went to this movie picking on everything, ‘cause I really thought it will be horrible, but the more I watch, the more I get into the story. It’s not a horror freaking scary film, but it’s a true suspense and will leave you on the edge of your seat.  The flashing scenes and the running and screaming put you right in the middle of the story. At the beginning I was confused, but then it gets clearer and you get used to the style of filming.
Brad as well was surprising (Although he needed a haircut, but some may disagree with me on that) He was so into his rule and really believable. Also I really enjoyed the acting of Mireille Enos who played, Karin (Gerry’s wife). Their relationship on the screen was so inspiring and moving.
The sound mixing and the soundtrack were amazing and really added to the suspense. There were moments of complete silent which was for me way more frightening! It was brilliant!!
As a friend told me the film is based on a book that tells you how to survive the zombie apocalypse, so to all Zombie fans and those who are getting ready to the zombie apocalypse (Like Me!) watch this film! It has a lot of great survival tips! I loved it!!
Go see it!!
I’m gonna revise my Zombie plan so, till the next film!
