Movie Review: The Amazing Spider-Man

So the sequel is coming out tomorrow, Thursday 1st of May! And to watch it, I have to actually watch the first one :p. To be honest I wasn’t that excited to do so, because the fact is, it’s a remake of a movie that was made only 10 years prior to this movie. The story is so fresh in our head! The last Spiderman movie was in 2007! Instead of watching a new story, we go back again to Peter Parker in High School! Again!

I think it’s all because Tobey Maguire, he doesn’t want to do another movie, so they need to find someone new, Andrew Garfield and reintroduce him to us.  As a superhero superfan I obviously watched all the previous movies, so I can easily compare. I liked Andrew more than Tobey, even though some will argue, but for some reason Tobey is emotionless, something cold in him. So maybe it’s a personal taste thing.

The story is the same, Peter get bitten (Again) he makes a custom (Again) he fights scientists turned bad (Again). As you can tell I was bored watching this movie. The story is a bit more refined, but there’s nothing new! The soundtrack is nice though; I liked the tunes. The new special effects are so much better for sure, even though it’s only been 10 years, the special effects have evolved completely.

Emma Stone was good too. I just love her, she’s amazing. I think she needs to do more movies. I don't see her that much these days. She's brilliant!

That’s about it! I hope 2 is going to be good!  They better do something new, because there is no excuse! It’s the same director, which is positive, I liked Marc Webb take on the story and part 3 is announced for 2014, so better be big on the box office or some people are gonna be yelled at! HAHA!

Till Saturday!

Movie Review: Jack The Giant Slayer

So, this is another movie I watched when I was sick. I had a bad flue few months ago and I watched so many movies.
The story of Jack and his magic beans that we all grew up hearing. This movie came with the wave of a new take of fairytales, like the movies, Red Riding Hood and Mirror Mirror. However it didn’t have the same fun modern twist that the rest of the movies had.
The special effects are a bit weak, I personally didn’t like the animated story in the beginning of the movie, but the story picks up by the middle of the movie. The adventure is entertaining.
I did enjoy the acting and the relationship between the characters. That helped make me like them and cheer for them when the fight with the Giants happened.
It’s not the best film in the world, but it’s still a fun movie to watch, something for the whole family to enjoy.

Till the next one,

Movie Review: The Hobbit

So I watched the first movie months ago and today I watched second movie of the Hobbit, so here’s m review on both film:

Based on J.R.R. Tolkien novel, the Hobbit is the story of how Biblo Baggins (Martin Freeman) found the famous ring of the beloved story of The Lord of the Rings (I promise one day I will review LOTR, because to my surprise there are people who didn’t see the trilogy yet!)  So Biblo Baggins, a normal hobbit, joins a gang of Dwarfs who are hopping to slay a dragon and reclaim their mountain home.

For a huge Lord of the Ring fan (The movies not the book) I was excited to see this movie, but once it was out a lot of people said some negative things about it, like it was too long and not as they expected it to be. I should not listen to negative people! This movie was AMAZING!! Sure it’s not LOTR, but it’s not supposed to be that. It has it’s own spirit and own story. Us nerds sometimes need to relax and not nip tuck on each little detail hahaha.

To answer those comments, yes the movie is a bit long, but you can’t feel the time passing by! It’s one of those movies that makes you yell “I want MORE!” when credits starts to roll.  It is so much more exciting that I expecting with so many FUNNY scenes! LOTR was a bit on the morbid series side (which I LOVED), while The Hobbit is up beat and thrilling.

I’m happy that the book is split to three movies, it’s a geeky wish to be honest, because I really missed that world after LOTR ended, so I want it to last as much as possible and to know more about the people who lived in it. I even missed Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and the Elves of course! I want to go live with them!

The set is as beautiful as always! I mean the Shire, The Mountain and dear God, Rivendell!! I love that Elves city! It’s like a tiny heaven!! To my fellow LOTR nerds, you know what I’m talking about!

This movie is so much fun, the Dwarfs were amazing. I loved how the focus is on them this time around. I mean mankind can be a bit boring after the billionth million about them haha!

This movie is for sure is a CLASSIC!!!

This part is so much BETTER!!! I LOVE IT!!!!
It’s so exciting and thrilling!! The story just gets better and better!!! You should’ve seen me reader, squealing and yelling at the screen as I watched! It’s just beyond amazing!!!
Just beware, I just finished seeing it, so I’m super excited and a crazy review is coming up!

So, the story of Biblo Baggins and the Dwarfs continues and this time they reach the Lonely Mountain and face the dragon while Gandalf the Grey (Ian McKellen) is investigating the rising of Sauron. In their journey as well they visit the Woodland elves!!! The land of Legolas (Orlando Bloom)!!!

The movie is full with action and excitement. Now that the Woodland Elves joined the elves the battle scenes are even better. The gracefulness and elegant of the elves is mixed with the sharpness of martial arts. It’s so freaking mind blowing!!!

Tolkien brilliance is reflected in the movie as we are focused on the main plot, which is the Dwarfs and their quest while giving us the highlight of the subplot, the one that set the beginning of the Lord of the Ring adventure.

The story is so rich with everything! Action, emotion, love, fear, excitement, pride, greed, evil! The whole journey is thrilling. I haven’t read the book, reader, but I enjoyed every scene of this movie. I do think it’s better than the first, maybe because we are now in the middle of the story. I can’t wait till part 3 is released December 2014!

I love how the movie kept its funny element. I mean the scene with the Dragon is just hilarious. Martin Freeman was brilliant.

The director of this trilogy is none other than, Peter Jackson, director of the Lord of the Ring. I’m so happy to see that he kept the same spirit of the movie while in the same time gave The Hobbit a soul of its own.

If you haven’t seen these movies yet, GO WATCH THEM!! You can’t miss watching the last installment of the trilogy at the cinema, like I missed the first two! I hate the fact that I was too busy when this part was release, but I still enjoyed it!

Don’t miss also Ed Sheeran’s song for the movie, I See Fire.

Till again ;),

Movie Review: Django Unchained

As I tweeted the other day, I wanted to review an Oscar winning film. So, since winning an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay is my ultimate dream, I chose ‘Django Unchained’.  I’m not a big fan of the Wild West films, but it’s a Quentin Tarantino film, so I was really excited to see it. I don’t know how to explain my take on Tarantino’s filmmaking style. He is famous of making unconventional stories in the most innovative way while keeping in mind, the artistic and in the same time commercial aspect in his film. See, I told you, I’m bad at explaining his methods, hahaha. Anyway what I mean is; his movies have a combination of elements that appeal to both critics and viewers.
So, the film is about Django (Jamie Foxx), a slave in 1858 who was freed by a German dentist, Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz) who is a bounty hunter. Hoping to find his enslaved wife (Kerry Washington) Django join Dr. King and become his deputy. They finally find his wife under the ownership of, a ruthless plantation owner, Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio).
It’s a long film, 2 hours and a half with some bloody scenes (well, if you saw Kill Bill, it’s not that much) but it’s a movie NOT TO BE MISSED! It’s very smart and sharp and Tarantino knows exactly the right moment for slow motion scenes to intrigue interest. It’s so thrilling and really moving.
The main theme in the film was slavery (that reminded me that I need to watch ‘12 Years a Slave’). It just shows you how much the African American suffered in those days and no matter how you tried, you can’t imagine the feeling of being owned and humiliated like that. I really enjoyed how the story (written by Tarantino) showed slavery and all that suffering through the eyes of a couple who will do anything for their love. It raised the issue of the ‘forbidden love’.
Since ‘Django Unchained’ won Best Writing, Original Screenplay, I paid attention to the dialogue. The moment you hear the doctor speaks in the film, you know how smart the script is. It gave the doctor’s character its unique voice and identity. Waltz also won Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role for playing the doctor. He was super awesome. He was brilliant! I totally approve the win.
Jamie Foxx was amazing in his role as well. He brought the character alive through his eyes. I always said that the success of an actor is shown through his eyes. He made me believe he was dying inside whenever something happened to his wife. I also always, always, always enjoy Leonardo’s acting. He needs an Oscar soon! His characters are always varied and his acting is just ah! Genius!
The movie is again not to be missed. It’s even has some funny scenes, so it has everything! If you’re looking for a good movie, here’s a film for you. But if you can’t take the blood and torturing, you shouldn’t watch it. It’s a bit disturbing.
Oh and it has an awesome soundtrack! I love it!
Tell I manage to see something good soon! (hopefully Prisoners!!)

Movie Review: Mirror Mirror

“Mirror Mirror on the wall, who’s the fairest of them all”

The story of Snow White and the wicked Queen is a story we memorize by heart from our childhood; we know how it starts and we know how it ends, but we can never have enough of. It just tickles hearts by the prospect of a great love story and a happy ending. That’s why it’s a timeless story.
That’s why whenever I hear a classic fairytale is being remake as a film, I feel skeptical. What if it got ruined?? I can tell you one thing, readers, NOT in this film!!! Mirror Mirror is just sooo AMAZING!!! I was dying to see it when I first saw the trailer. The movie was hilarious, adventurous and full with LOVE.
Two elements helped this movie to be an awesome blockbuster: the enchanted setting and Julia Roberts!! Let’s talk first about the setting: It was so beautiful. It was as magical as the fairytale itself. It was a master piece. Second, the talented, amazing, funny and beautiful, Julia Roberts; she was hilarious!!!! She took the evil creepy Queen image and turned it to this snarky, sarcastic, coco loony character. Her performance is perfect!!!
I’m really enjoying how movies are recreating the classic fairytales we’re used to see. From “Red Riding Hood” to the coming “Beauty and the Beast”, a new generation of fairytales is introduced to us. This movie has a fun teenager mood to it, but we will see the dramatic mood of “Red Riding Hood” in “Snow White and The Huntsmen” (if you don’t know it, see the Trailer). The other Snow White story which will be released in June. The Queen is Charlize Theron and the Huntsmen is Chris Hemsworth, oh, my god!!! The only bad vibe I get from this movie is from Kristen Stewart, let’s hope her performance in this movie is better than Twilight, eh!
Bottom line, the movie is AWESOME!! Go see it!!!
Movies are so so so so fun these days!! Long Live Creative Imagination!!!

Movie Review: The Hunger Games

The much anticipated movie of this season. Based on the best seller trilogy, The Hunger Games broke records on its opening weekend in USA. I didn’t know about the books, since I haven’t been in a book store for a very long time! But when I saw the movie buzz on TV and online I was slightly curious to read the books and had them in my Amazon cart. After seeing the movie, I will definitely BUY it!!

The movie was AMAZING! Very intense and entertaining! It was slow at first, but then when I get the hang of the story line and setting; it was just a rush of thrilling scenes. I can see there’s a lot of details we need to know are in the book, that’s why I’m excited to be a new fan of this trilogy!!
I liked the concept of the movie, survival of the fittest and all. It’s amazing how people act when they face death! Their true nature appears and it’s sometimes predictable, but can also be shocking. The movie was slightly slow like I said, but it made me believe the game was happening for real. The movie was more drama than action, but in a good way!
I don’t want to talk about the plot a lot, but the main idea is get kids from different districts (the movie is set in a different world), throw them in a forest and let them kill each other; only one can survive. This concept is kinda old, but what I liked is how the writer made a TV show around it. It’s just a reflection of today’s world, on how to survive based on rating and people’s love. True, no one is killing each other in reality shows (even though most of the time they try) it’s just the same concept; let everyone fight and back stab each other for people’s entertainment.
A line I liked that was said in the movie was, “I don’t wanna lose myself in this game”. It says a lot!
There were signs in the last couple of scenes of the movie about part too, and I searched for it, so “Catching Fire” will be released in 2013!! yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay.
The movie is fun and you should go and cheer for your favorite in Hunger Games ;)

Movie Review: Man on a Ledge

Fun, exciting movie!!! Yaaay :D!!! I saw the stupid behind the scene clip before going to the movies and I thought I won’t enjoy it, but as always, I was WRONG!! It’s so thrilling. The whole movie is about a guy on a ledge, which mean every five seconds you think, will he jump or not!! Pure suspense!!

The lead actor is Sam Worthington, the guy in avatar. I like his acting, but I didn’t like the long hair on him. I know, what does that have to do with the movie, but I’m just saying, cut your hair dude!! :p

Ok, going back to the movie, I recommend this to anyone who wants a fun movie. It’s not a long movie and you can predict most of the plot, but it’s one of those movies which you don’t regret buying the ticket!!

There is no artistic quality to it; it’s just a pure entertainment movie!!
