Movie Review: Catch Me If You Can

This is by far one of my favorite Leonardo DiCaprio movies!! I watched ages ago on MBC 2 and whenever it’s on again I drop everything to sit and watch it. It is so entertaining, smart, heartbreaking and heartwarming in the same time and just one of the best movies ever!!

It’s the TRUE story of 17 years old Frank Abagnale Jr. (DiCaprio) who runs away from home when his parents is separated and lived for years conning people, perfecting the art of checks forgery and running away from the FBI team who is led by Carl Hanratty (Tom Hanks).

The movie as I said is brilliant! We see Carl chaise after Frank year after year as he impersonates pilots, doctors and lawyers and how they both develop a bond. And the best thing is that it’s a TRUE story!! How awesome is that!

I highly highly recommend this movie! Leo as always gave a great performance and working side by side TOM HANKS! Such a great movie!!

Please excuse my rushed short review, the movie does deserve the watch, however I’m swapped with homeworks and university projects, so I couldn’t watch it again :(.  I have watched however 4 or 5 times and it was nominated for 2 Oscars!!

Till again!

Quick Movie Review -

The Lego Movie:
To be honest, I didn't like this movie at all and their theme song "Everything is Awesome" irritate me beyond believe. I think you need to be a "lego fan" to get this movie.

Tammy:
This is tiny bit funny, so don't expect too much from this one. Melissa McCarthy need a new character idea. She keep repeating the same jokes.

The Words:
This is very interesting movie with great cast about a writer and his story of another writer. I didn't like the ending, but I enjoyed how it started and its concept.

Due Date:
This is so boring, I won't even bother writing anything about it.

Tower Heist:
You can never go wrong with a comedy movie about stealing rich guys, especially if Ben Stiller is starring.

Till the next one!

Movie Review: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1

I was afraid that I’d be over this story by now, but my heart raced from the very first second!! AHHH! I am a huge fan of the books and love, LOVE the movies and this one is sooo good!! All the details from the book are there! That’s the best reason to split the final book into two parts :p.

The story of Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) continues after she escaped the second Hunger Games and found herself in the middle of the revolution led by President Coin (Julianne Moore) of District 13, the district everyone thought was destroyed 75 years ago. Struggling to stay sane and hoping to find Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) again Katniss becomes the revolution symbol and their Mockingjay. And it’s not that simple; President Snow (Donald Sutherland) is ruthless and with every attack they hit him with, he prepare his counter attack.

What I love about this story is how Suzanne Collins showed the psychological effects of going through the Hunger Games. How it changed and damaged them. And all the actors, ALL of them did an amazing job to show it!! Jennifer, Josh and OMG, Sam Claflin who is an amazing choice to play the role of Finnick Odair showed their suffering in their voices, their eyes and their movements. In the book other than Peeta, Finnick was my favorite character, so I’m super happy with Sam!
The rest of the cast are just as brilliant if not even more! Julianne more gave me goosepumps and it was great, yet sad to see Philip Seymour Hoffman who is no longer with us. And I was so giddy to see Haymitch (Woody Harrelson) and Effie (Elizabeth Banks) again <3!! And ooh and choosing Natalie Dormer to play the hard core director, Cressida is brilliant!!

To talk about the visual effects and the setting; they truly brought it to life in the movie! I mean the underground district 13 showed us what the book told us it would look like. The details of how everyone wears the same cloths, the minimum use of materials mix with the high tech weaponry. Oh and lets not forget the Posters they did for the movie! Best posters ever!

To those who haven’t read the book, the movie was a bit too slow for them, because there was no more Hunger Games, but the story is now beyond the games and focus on something much greater. I cried so much! Especially in the end *weep*.

For me there will be nothing like The Hunger Games, just like there will never be another Harry Potter. Suzanne had created a deep and emotional story that will live in my heart forever. And I can’t wait for Part 2 to be released next year!

Movie Review: Shawshank Redemption

This time I am reviewing a great movie. A movie, which was ahead of it’s of time and if it would hit the theaters in this day and age it would perform well. Shawshank flopped in the box office and did not perform well when it first came out in 1994. Once the movie became available on DVD and Netflix, it performed well and sold a lot better than it did in the box office.

The movie is stared by: Tim Robbins as Andy Dufresne, Morgan Freeman as Ellis Boyd "Red" Redding, Bob Gunton as Warden Samuel Norton and is directed and written by, Frank Darabont.
The movie is about a banker who is wrongfully accused of shooting his unfaithful wife and her lover. He is sentenced to serve two consecutive life sentences at Shawshank State Penitentiary. While incarcerated he takes advantage of his skills as a banker and helps the guards with their taxes. Its gets to the point where the penitentiary library becomes sort of an office for tax purposes. The warden of the prison notice Andy skills as a banker and decides to make him launder money for him. The story takes a turn when a new inmate joins the penitentiary and reveals some interesting facts about Andy’s case. The warden then takes drastic measures to make sure Andy stays in jail to keep the money laundering business going.

What really attracted me to the movie is that it was so realistic and how Frank shot it in a way that makes you feel you want to do prison time. Tim Robbins excels as Andy and Morgan Freeman as always makes you feel the character from every aspect. It’s evident that the movie was not easy to shoot. As you watch you will notice the great interaction between the characters and how the movie sequence was shot in a way to hook you into the story. The escape scene re-defines the meaning of the word determination. It’s so unexpected yet so realistic.

I strongly recommended buying this movie on Blu-ray or DVD because you will love it and I am sure you will watch again.
Before I go, I want to share an interesting fact about Shawshank. Tom Cruise turned down the role because he didn’t want to work with Frank Darabont, who was a new director back then.
