Movie Review: X-Men Days of Future Past

The original X-Men finally return in this amazing new movie, which is set in the future with the need to go and correct what happened in the past and that starts the Days of Future Past. Because of one act done by Raven/Mystiqu (Jennifer Lawrence) in 1973, Logan/Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) is sent back by both Professor X (Patrick Stewart) and Magneto (Ian McKellen). With the help of Ketty Pryde (Ellen Page) Wolverine wakes up in the past and start his journey to change history and it is AMAAAZIING!! LOVED IT! 

I can’t express how excited I was to see everyone and how all the kids from the first movie grew and their powers evolved. This made me enjoy the movie even more as I feel like the X-Men returned to their roots and their original story. As a fan of the X-Men and someone who watched all the parts, I could see how this movie linked all the rest together. All the secrets and gapes we figured out as we moved along the whole series came together. It made it even more special. You can watch it on its own, but there are these scenes here and there and lines that are like inside jokes, you have to see the previous movies to get them. So I advice, if you haven’t, watch the ones before and then watch this one ;) (Here’s the order: X-Men, X2, X-Men: The Last Stand, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, X-Men: First Class and last but not least, X-Men: Days of Future Past)

I’m a huge fan of time travel and how everything effects everything and what I loved about this movie is how simple yet effective it has been. The move between the past and future is smooth and understandable. I’m glad they made it work!

The action scenes are just brilliant! You can tell the amount of work and DETAILS behind it. Some movies focus on the force and power rather than the details. You should see the scenes with Quicksilver (Evan Peters), loved it! It’s really remarkable to see all those powers and how they work. It’s entertaining on its own.

And of course those powers would not be as awesome without the people behind them. The cast in this movie is AMAZING!! I mean you have the cast from the first X-Men movies and from First Class! I mean come on!! How mind blowing is that!! Even Peter Dinklage who is a genius actor joined the club! What more would you want??

Another thing, X-Men has always been about finding your path, the right path and how you always have hope for those who lost it. The depth of that idea and the suffering that they all endured gave the movie an alive soul that would easily float from the screen and into your heart without knowing it. Finding our path on daily bases is a struggle on its own, just imagine if the whole world was against you. The movie delivered that image perfectly, and I’m happy that they didn’t force it on it.

Movie Review: Captain America - The Winter Soldier

You all know by now that I have a soft spot for superheroes! My favorites are, you know, The Wolverine (mostly ‘cause of Hugh Jackman), Thor and Iron Man. But the 2014 amazing summer season start with Captain America newest movie, The Winter Soldier.

As he awakes after being frozen for more than 70 years, Captain America (Chris Evans) is yet to adapt and update himself with the new world. To add to his worries, SHEILD is compromised from the inside and he has to run to solve the mystery of who broke into SHEILD’s system. The Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and soldier, Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) are all he has. From the first scene, action starts. I mean well played, well planned action. It set the pace to what’s coming! LOVE IT!

I love how superheroes movies are evolving. For me I believe this is their time; the special effects and technology of today helped them come alive. Not only are they alive, they are real and believable; not as animated as they used to be.

Like all of Marvel movies, Captain America is thrilling, exciting and full with funny witty scenes. For me they always know how to make it appealing to everyone and I believe by the records their movies always smash, I am right.

To be honest, reader, I was never a Comic fan. I never got into it for some reason, but like everyone I grew up on Superheroes. For me they are the 20th century’s modern equivalent to folklore and fairy tales and that is why I love them. I noticed something as I watched The Avengers and Captain America today; every superhero that we know have a distinct character. It’s really got me thinking and Captain America’s character is captivating. He is this honest, straightforward person that we all have in us, but somehow believed to be gone. Maybe he does represent a time when people are more open and honest to each other; a simpler times. 

Chris Evans did an amazing job in reflecting the spirit of that character. Whoever casted him is a genius. I mean even his feature and his poster scream Captain America (the way I see him at least). Also I was shocked by Johansson. She was so much better than in the Avengers. She’s getting good and comfortable as the Black Widow and I’m so thankful that they fixed her hair color! It was way over the top before!

Other than that I really have nothing to say. Just to mention, for those who didn’t watch part 1, it’s all right. you will be told the story of Captain America within the first hour. They did it in a subtle way that I really like.  

I really enjoyed it and THANK GOD!! The summer season started! With a really great movie, nonetheless. I enjoyed it and I know you would too! I’m only disappointed that Divergent is not coming out next week here! The distributers sometimes kill me!

Movie Review: Prisoners

Staring Hugh Jackman, Prisoners is the story of Keller Dover (Jackman) when his daughter and her friend got kidnapped. Disappointed by the performance of Detective Loki (Jake Gyllenhaal) he perssue the suspect and try to find his daughter.

This is such a suspense story!! OMG!! I was on the edge of my seat and screaming at the screen! Even though it’s the same kidnapping story, but so intense and thrilling! There are scenes that hook you up so much that you just stare in silence waiting for something to happen. Even the soundmix was thrilling. It was so calm that even some scenes didn’t have any sound but the click of a pen or the swish of a paper.

I’m a huge, huge Hugh Jackman fan!! I love how deep he gets into the character. He’s so passionate and emotional. There was a scene that just killed me as he screamed at Loki saying, ‘My daughter is there, waiting for me, waiting for me to save her’.

Also keep in mind that you need to go with your friends to see this. I really enjoyed the movie more because I had my sisters and friends with me and we kept speculating and trying to guess the plot! It was like we lived the mystery with them. It was nerve wrecking, but totally worth it!!

Awesome choice, Hugh! As always!!!

Movie Review: The Wolverine

I was waiting for this film! Mainly because I LOVE Hugh Jackman and also because the X-Men are one of my favorite superheroes. They just have the perfect fantasy-reality blend! And also because Hugh Jackman is the Wolverine!!!

Ok, to be more series and professional, it’s the story of our dear Logan dealing with the aftermath of Jean’s (Famke Janssen) death. He excluded himself from society and everyone and left to live in the mountain. As he finally accepted his loneliness, a man he ones saved reached out to him. You see he was dying and flew Logan all over to Japan to say goodbye to him, but little did Logan knew that this man wanted his healing powers in return to give him a mortal life.

For me, The Wolverine is one of the best films of the summer. Whenever you see a sequel you feel the doubts, but this film is actually enjoyable and good! You never regret seeing it and you actually would want to see it again. It didn’t have a lot of X-Men in it; the focus was mainly on The Wolverine, but it was backed with ninjas!! I love physical fights more than guns and weapons. You can see the art of movement.

The setting in Japan really gave the film a nice atmosphere. You would think it will be cliché, cus we saw a lot of movies now shot in Japan, but it really worked for this film. We moved from the crowded city to the southern villages and them into the snow covered mountains. It’s really beautiful.

The Japanese cast was awesome! They really casted some of their best. Sometimes the casting crew go crazy (like in Pacific Rim), but this time all of them really elevated the film. Hugh Jackman for me will always be an amazing and talented actor! Their something about him that you actually believe the words he says. The pain in Logan’s eyes and his struggle with his guilt and nightmares needs to be genuine and Hugh actually delivered it. I just love him! (If he wasn’t The Wolverine, he’s make an excellent Batman!! Instead of Ben Affleck, ah!)

Anyways! Watch this film!! Waaaatch it!!!

Movie Review: Real Steal

I was waiting for this movie since forever!!! I am so happy I got the chance to go and see it!!! It’s AMAZING!!! A M A Z I NG!!!!!

The story of boxing robots!! How cool is that!! I was punching invisible robots throughout the fights!! Haha!!

I loved how you can feel the heart and soul of this movie!! I cried in more than one scene! It’s so cool!

So *calm down* the story is about a boxing champion, Charlie Kenton (Hugh Jackman) whose career was killed by the boxing industry moving to Robots! As he tries to buy a robot to compete with, his son, Max (Dakota Goyo) comes into the picture. Both of them spend the summer together and go through a mind blowing experience!!

Hugh Jackman is one of my favorite actors, not only ‘cause he is super super cute, but also because you can feel the emotions his character feel. He’s brilliant!!  The kid,OMG!! He is so gifted!! He’s so funny and really fit his character (even though he was weak in some scenes, but for his age, he was GREAT!!)

I also was blown by the special effects used in this movie. It was more believable than I thought it would be. The fighting scenes were so real. There was couple of scenes as well, which were so beautiful. You normally don’t see this kind of artistic quality in an action movie. What I also loved was how they incorporated futuristic technology with traditional ways. It didn’t ruin the concept nor did it look faked.

The directing was genius!! Shawn Levy did a great job!! All the elements of this movie worked together and it didn’t lose our attention.

I love this movie, I’m so gonna buy the DVD. The movie is action packed and so exciting!! I clapped, yelled and punched the air hahaha!! It’s one of this movies that make you live the story with all your senses!!

I recommend this movie to all types of people!!
