Movie Review: X-Men Days of Future Past

The original X-Men finally return in this amazing new movie, which is set in the future with the need to go and correct what happened in the past and that starts the Days of Future Past. Because of one act done by Raven/Mystiqu (Jennifer Lawrence) in 1973, Logan/Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) is sent back by both Professor X (Patrick Stewart) and Magneto (Ian McKellen). With the help of Ketty Pryde (Ellen Page) Wolverine wakes up in the past and start his journey to change history and it is AMAAAZIING!! LOVED IT! 

I can’t express how excited I was to see everyone and how all the kids from the first movie grew and their powers evolved. This made me enjoy the movie even more as I feel like the X-Men returned to their roots and their original story. As a fan of the X-Men and someone who watched all the parts, I could see how this movie linked all the rest together. All the secrets and gapes we figured out as we moved along the whole series came together. It made it even more special. You can watch it on its own, but there are these scenes here and there and lines that are like inside jokes, you have to see the previous movies to get them. So I advice, if you haven’t, watch the ones before and then watch this one ;) (Here’s the order: X-Men, X2, X-Men: The Last Stand, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, X-Men: First Class and last but not least, X-Men: Days of Future Past)

I’m a huge fan of time travel and how everything effects everything and what I loved about this movie is how simple yet effective it has been. The move between the past and future is smooth and understandable. I’m glad they made it work!

The action scenes are just brilliant! You can tell the amount of work and DETAILS behind it. Some movies focus on the force and power rather than the details. You should see the scenes with Quicksilver (Evan Peters), loved it! It’s really remarkable to see all those powers and how they work. It’s entertaining on its own.

And of course those powers would not be as awesome without the people behind them. The cast in this movie is AMAZING!! I mean you have the cast from the first X-Men movies and from First Class! I mean come on!! How mind blowing is that!! Even Peter Dinklage who is a genius actor joined the club! What more would you want??

Another thing, X-Men has always been about finding your path, the right path and how you always have hope for those who lost it. The depth of that idea and the suffering that they all endured gave the movie an alive soul that would easily float from the screen and into your heart without knowing it. Finding our path on daily bases is a struggle on its own, just imagine if the whole world was against you. The movie delivered that image perfectly, and I’m happy that they didn’t force it on it.

Movie Review: The Amazing Spider-Man

So the sequel is coming out tomorrow, Thursday 1st of May! And to watch it, I have to actually watch the first one :p. To be honest I wasn’t that excited to do so, because the fact is, it’s a remake of a movie that was made only 10 years prior to this movie. The story is so fresh in our head! The last Spiderman movie was in 2007! Instead of watching a new story, we go back again to Peter Parker in High School! Again!

I think it’s all because Tobey Maguire, he doesn’t want to do another movie, so they need to find someone new, Andrew Garfield and reintroduce him to us.  As a superhero superfan I obviously watched all the previous movies, so I can easily compare. I liked Andrew more than Tobey, even though some will argue, but for some reason Tobey is emotionless, something cold in him. So maybe it’s a personal taste thing.

The story is the same, Peter get bitten (Again) he makes a custom (Again) he fights scientists turned bad (Again). As you can tell I was bored watching this movie. The story is a bit more refined, but there’s nothing new! The soundtrack is nice though; I liked the tunes. The new special effects are so much better for sure, even though it’s only been 10 years, the special effects have evolved completely.

Emma Stone was good too. I just love her, she’s amazing. I think she needs to do more movies. I don't see her that much these days. She's brilliant! 

That’s about it! I hope 2 is going to be good!  They better do something new, because there is no excuse! It’s the same director, which is positive, I liked Marc Webb take on the story and part 3 is announced for 2014, so better be big on the box office or some people are gonna be yelled at! HAHA!

Movie Review: Captain America - The Winter Soldier

You all know by now that I have a soft spot for superheroes! My favorites are, you know, The Wolverine (mostly ‘cause of Hugh Jackman), Thor and Iron Man. But the 2014 amazing summer season start with Captain America newest movie, The Winter Soldier.

As he awakes after being frozen for more than 70 years, Captain America (Chris Evans) is yet to adapt and update himself with the new world. To add to his worries, SHEILD is compromised from the inside and he has to run to solve the mystery of who broke into SHEILD’s system. The Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and soldier, Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) are all he has. From the first scene, action starts. I mean well played, well planned action. It set the pace to what’s coming! LOVE IT!

I love how superheroes movies are evolving. For me I believe this is their time; the special effects and technology of today helped them come alive. Not only are they alive, they are real and believable; not as animated as they used to be.

Like all of Marvel movies, Captain America is thrilling, exciting and full with funny witty scenes. For me they always know how to make it appealing to everyone and I believe by the records their movies always smash, I am right.

To be honest, reader, I was never a Comic fan. I never got into it for some reason, but like everyone I grew up on Superheroes. For me they are the 20th century’s modern equivalent to folklore and fairy tales and that is why I love them. I noticed something as I watched The Avengers and Captain America today; every superhero that we know have a distinct character. It’s really got me thinking and Captain America’s character is captivating. He is this honest, straightforward person that we all have in us, but somehow believed to be gone. Maybe he does represent a time when people are more open and honest to each other; a simpler times. 

Chris Evans did an amazing job in reflecting the spirit of that character. Whoever casted him is a genius. I mean even his feature and his poster scream Captain America (the way I see him at least). Also I was shocked by Johansson. She was so much better than in the Avengers. She’s getting good and comfortable as the Black Widow and I’m so thankful that they fixed her hair color! It was way over the top before!

Other than that I really have nothing to say. Just to mention, for those who didn’t watch part 1, it’s all right. you will be told the story of Captain America within the first hour. They did it in a subtle way that I really like.  

I really enjoyed it and THANK GOD!! The summer season started! With a really great movie, nonetheless. I enjoyed it and I know you would too! I’m only disappointed that Divergent is not coming out next week here! The distributers sometimes kill me!

Movie Review: Man of Steel

I had my doubts about this film, because I was never a fan of Superman and never bothered to see any of his films, but when you hear that the producer of this version is Christopher Nolan (director of the last three Batman movies) you gotta see it. And I saw it and I LOVED IT!!!

Finally someone put some series magic into this character! Normally it looks so fake and comicy in a very bad way, but this time there was a soul and depth into the story. I know this will sound stupid, but you actually believe it happening!

From the beautiful and very exciting opening in Krypton you can tell there is something different about this version! This time we have almost 15 minutes of scenes in Krypton! I loved it! We know the planet died, but thank you for showing us more of it! I mean that gave depth to the story! The setting was mesmerizing and the destruction of the planet was amazingly amazing!! I loved how the special effects in this film felt effortless. And there was this velvet texture feel to the way it was filmed, so artistic!

Also I loved the cast choice in this film! Russell Crowe (Superman’s real father) who gave a certain nobility to the film and Diane Lane and Kevin Costner (Superman adopted parents) who touches the deepest emotions in your heart, amongst many other great talents!! And OMG, Amy Adams is by far my favorite Lois Lane. She is phenomenon, refreshing and really gave Lois the journalist edge she normally requires. I love her! We can’t also ignore Henry Cavill and his performance as Clark Kent!! He was just perfection in everyway (yes, I wanna marry him!)!!! He was mysterious and he really delivered the sense of his lost soul trying to find home. You will understand my jabbering once you see this film.

The whole film was like a glimpse of Clark’s journey in finding his identity and true calling. But fear not when I say these remarks, there is mind blowing FIGHT SCENES!! With Superman defying his own people and the fist fight in the sky will get you sitting on the edge of your seat!!!

This film has all the right elements of success. Even as I’m writing this review, I’m listening one of the enchanting soundtracks of Hans Zimmer and it’s just got me in the right mood to write!!

I loved all the plot twists and surprises and this movie actually made me fall for Superman once more!! Don’t miss it!!

Movie Review: The Green Lantern

I so want to be a green lantern, not only to ride with the handsome Hal Jordan, but to actually see the rest of the

Lanterns. From the movie posters I thought they'll be more intergalactic battles.

Still the movie is fun and enjoyable. It has some exciting fighting scenes and it's so awesome to see the ring on action!!

I will defiantly get the DVD, but that's cus I'm a sci-fi geek :p.

I really wanted to see more lanterns and get to know them. Hal was enough for this part, he was good! But if there are any new sequels I want more lanterns!!

I love how new technology allows movie makers create stories that we only thought we can write or dream about. The technique that the special features people work out the suits and the aliens are amazing! It's like the comic book was alive!!! Though I never read the comic book, so feel free to doubt me hehe.

Weirdly, I liked Blake Lively, she was really good playing Carol. She was believable in her role and very fashionable too.

So, in the end, you should go see the movie. It'll be for sure a classic superhero movie!!

Sleep tight tonight cus we are being protected by awesome Green Lanterns ;)
