Movie Review: Sleepless in Seattle

I was in the mood for something romantic to start 2015 reviews and this is another movie in my DVD pile and it’s just so perfect! I’m crying right now as I write this!! Ah, how amazing those romantic movies from the 90s! The time of Meg Ryan, Julia Roberts and Sandra Bullock! Ah, such pure magical emotions and this movie is just timeless! So romantic!! I’m still crying!!

The story of widowed Sam (Tom Hanks) and his son Jonah (Ross Malinger), who called a radio show one day to say that his dad, Sam is sad and need a new wife. On the other side, Annie (Meg Ryan), who just got engaged, heard the show and from that moment she couldn’t take her mind off Sam, or as the show called him, Sleepless in Seattle. And one thing led to the next!

I’m sighing all over! We need this kind of movies back! Like seriously, stop making those stupid over sex oriented romantic comedies! People may argue that this movie is cheezy, but even though it had the most unexpected story, it is heavy with true feelings. The struggle of a family after the death of the mother is heart breaking and how they stick together in order to pick up the pieces. These things happen and they are as real as me, whose fingers are writing this review.

Death is such a hard subject and getting over it is hard, because the people you love didn’t leave you out of choice, but they were taken away from you and no matter how much you miss them, you can’t pick up the phone or even stalk them on social media and you try your best to keep the memories alive in your heart, because that is the only thing left. The only thing that makes their previous existence real. Ok, I’m crying again.

Let’s talk about movie stuff now, the soundtrack is just the cutest and the plot is so sweet, funny and such a tearjerker. This is a movie with a beautiful soul! The movie when cheezy movies weren’t that cheezy. Meg Ryan is so amazing in her acting. I love the way she moves hehehe it shows what her character feels like. Tom Hanks, ah, I never thought he was that attractive and cute until this movie! The kid is so cute, and I loved how the movie portrayed his relationship with his Dad. You can’t, but love them. You can’t, but hope that one day you will meet your own Sleepless in Seattle.

I loved every minute of this movie. I miss this! How pure and magical love can be and no matter how many people these days tell us this love doesn’t exist or it’s all a Hollywood lie, I’ve seen proof in real life that love is real and if you were lucky enough you will have a taste of it.

It’s exactly what I needed to watch today! For more info, please click here.

Till again! Oh and Happy New Year ^-^

Movie Review: The Best of Me

I haven’t seen any good Romance movie like this one in forever!!! I cried so much!! It’s so good and so sweet and so so beautiful!

It’s the story of Amanda (Michelle Monaghan) and Dawson (James Marsden) who are reunited after 21 years when their good friend Tuck (Gerald McRaney) died. As they prepare to say goodbye we learn their story and how they fell in love and got separated. The flashbacks of young Amanda (Liana Liberato) and young Dawson (Luke Bracey) are so heartwarming and just makes you smile!

It’s one of those movies who leave you with this feeling that life is good and everything is going to be alright even if it doesn’t seem that way right now. It just makes you remember how love matters in life and you should never let it go.

It made me mooshy as you can sense! I’m so high with good feeling or maybe its just my after crying feeling. God, I cried every 10 minutes! The movie is just so romantic and goooood!

The setting is amazing! I loved the town the story was set it. Breathtaking! Such a perfect place for a love story! I also seriously loved the characters in this movie! Both Amanda and Dawson are easy to love and you just want the best for them! They’re not too clichéd, they’re just your normal average good people and I love that!
The cast did a great job to convey this! I felt the love in their eyes, their smile and their words! I enjoyed the younger actors better. Though James Marsden is as gorgeous as ever! He was so brilliant! His eyes, it’s all in his eyes!! Ah!

The movie is based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks, who wrote The Notebook, A Walk to Remember and Dear John. I just want to know how is it possible that I never ever read his books!! I need to fix that!! All the movies I saw based on his books are just … Romantic!

I’m so gonna watch this movie again! I’m still hooked on the soundtrack!

نقد فيلم: The Fault in Our Stars

Movie Review: The Lunchbox

So, for today I wanted to review something different, other than my normal fantasy sci-fi stuff and in iTunes I found that the Lunchbox is the movie of the week! I heard really good things about it from my friends who watched it and it didn’t disappoint! Such a sweet deep and real movie! It’s enchanting, funny and the type of movies that never leave you.

The movie is set in India and it’s a story of a married woman who was trying to win back the love of her husband by making him the yummiest lunch he had, but by mistake the lunchbox was delivered to another man, who is old and bitter after losing his wife. When she discovered that the box went to the wrong person, she sends a letter to the guy in the lunchbox and he replies and with that starts an unexpected friendship between the two.

The movie just hypnotizes you into a beautiful world with amazing cinematography and colors. It shows us the smallest details we’re normally not exposed to from other cultures; like the lunchbox delivery service. It’s just men who go from home to home collect all the lunchboxes then take them to their destination. So we follow this small green box as it travels between the two.

It’s so simple, yet so deep. It shows the charming relationship growing between the two in a very charming and also funny way. It just makes you want to watch more and more of it. Not to mention as well the well structured and hooking script. It was written by the director as well, Ritesh Batra, who I had the pleasure to meet three years ago, though I doubt he’ll recall our meet hehehe.

The cast as well shined and gave great performances. I thought Nimrat Kaur is so beautiful and loved her portray of Ila (the woman who prepare the lunchbox) and of course not to forget to mention Irrfan Khan who played Saajan, the guy receiving the lunchbox.

The movie is such a beautiful melody that taps into our humanity in a sweet way. It won more than 20 international awards including Grand Golden Rail in Cannes Film Festival 2013.

The movie is what we call an “indie movie” or an Independent film, which means a movie that was produced mostly or all together outside the big and major movie studios system. Many great directors and even actors started with an indie movie and I’m planning to expand my horizon even further and review more movies from this type!
If you know any good indie movie, please feel free to comment and mention some to us! We’d love to hear from you!

Till again lovelies!

Movie Review: Labor Day

Unfortunately I’m that kind of person that doesn’t have so much time to watch movies. Or better, I usually spend most of my evening at home, but watching TV is really soporific for me.  Except when I travel.

So during one of my last flights I decided to watch Labor Day, a drama movie which I discovered later is based on the novel of the same name written by Joyce Maynard in 2009.

Protagonist of this movie is Kate Winslet who plays the role of Adele, a depressed single woman and mother of Henry (Gattlin Griffith) a 13-years-old-son. Co-protagonist is Josh Brolin, who played Frank Chambers, a convict, broke out of jail and wanted by the local police. While Adele and her son are shopping in a clothes store, a bloody Frank “asks” them to take him home and look after him. It’s the Labor Day weekend and in five days the life of Adele and Harry changes completely. Frank reveals to be an incredible man with an incredible past.
Now at this point I don’t want to reveal to you the final. I really suggest you watch the movie for this.

What I want to add is that I loved this movie because yes, it’s romantic but not in the classic way.  I loved it because it talks about love, about second opportunities in a different way. Labor Day talks about hot themes like depression and the effects of prejudices and misunderstandings. But it does that through the eyes of love, the love of a son for his mother, who always try to protect her, the love of a man who lost his better years and his freedom and the love of a woman who has been hurt and she has become the shadow of herself.

But no matter what happened, life always gives second opportunities even if not in the way we expect.

In the movie Kate Winslet is a great actress and again she played Adele's role with a strong personality and a deep impact. I didn't know Josh Brolin as an actor, but what I know is that both Kate and Josh made me forget that I was sitting on a plane while I was watching Labor Day. They were able to keep my attention from the beginning to the end of the story.
