Movie Review: Mr. Peabody & Sherman

I always enjoy a good animation! This is not the ultimate best one, but it’s fun and entertaining with beautiful historical scenery. It has time travel, soo it’s good hehehe!

It’s the story of super smart genius dog, Mr. Peabody (v/ Ty Burrell) who adopts a boy, Sherman (v/ Max Charles) and Mr. Peabody is so smart he invented a time machine which he calls, The Way Back (I thought that was pretty smart). Everything is great until Sherman starts school and in the first day he ends up in a fight with Penny (v/ Ariel Winter). To fix it Mr. Peabody invites her and her parents (v/ Stephen Colbert and Leslie Mann) and during dinner Sherman and Penny go into the Way Back and get into a lot of fun trouble!

Other than the flawless animation, the movie highlight so many important events in the history of mankind and its entertaining and educating for kids to see, though as an adult you have to explain what really actually happened hahaha. Also the movie sends a great message, which is the acceptance of the difference between people and how the normal life to someone is unnatural to someone else, but it doesn’t mean it’s wrong. I like that. It’s a good thing to teach the young generations.

The only odd thing in the movie for me was how, Ty portrayed a very smart and poised character in the movie hehehe I’m used to him being funny and clumsy in Modern Family, so it took me a minute to get used to it. But the movie is still a good fun!

Movie Review: Big Hero 6

OMG!! This movie is sooo awesome!! I soo enjoyed it!!! If you could see me right now, you’d see me jumping and clapping from the excitement!! I mean the animation was sooo good that the kids in the theater were super silent and soo into the story! I never seen that happen before! That’s how good it was. I mean, of course it would be, it’s a Disney movie!!

It’s the story of the kid genius Hiro Hamada (Ryan Potter) and the bond he develop with the cutest robot ever, Baymax (Scott Adsit)!! And how both of them with the funniest four nerds became super heroes! 

The movie is so so hilarious! I keep laughing every five minutes! And beyond exciting! I was clapping and squealing! The script and the plot are so smart, witty, so nerdy and just awesome! It’s such a blast from the first scene! Baymax is so cute as well, you’ll be saying, “I want one!!” he is amaaaaazing!!

The animation is brilliant! So colorful and the details are beautiful! I don’t know what else to say hahaha I was as well so hooked into the story, I just enjoyed the ride and didn’t write a lot of reviewing notes ><!

But this review is to tell you whether it’s worth the watch or not, so if you’re into good animation and a fun action super hero story, this is THE animation for you! It’s awesome!

And as always, before the movie a short movie was played. I love them; they’re always cute and have a fun message. This time it’s called Feast and about a dog that love to eat. I loved it. The animation is so artistic and enchanting! Love it.

So, I do recommend this! One of the best animations I saw in years! It’s as good as How to Train Your Dragon and Despicable Me. For more info and the trailer, click here.

Halloween Movie Review: Corpse Bride

I return to the Halloween movie review with another Tim Burton and Johnny Depp movie and this time it’s a musical animation and this time, it has Helena Bonham Carter in it. For me these three are the best in dark fantasies!!

It’s the story of the rehearsal-wedding day for Victor (Johnny), a son of a fish merchant who just became rich and Victoria (Emily Watson), the daughter of an aristocratic family who are totally broke.  Victor is so shy and nervous he keeps messing his vows, so after being yelled at he goes into the woods to practice and when he was saying the vows right, he was standing on a grave of a corpse bride, so after Victor finishes his vows, the Corpse Bride Emily (Helena) wakes up and tells Victor, Oh you’re my husband and takes him with her to the land of the dead hahahaha.

The story, as grim as it is, is actually funny and highly entertaining! That’s why I love Tim Burton’s movies; he always bright the bright side of darkness hehehee. It’s fun and makes you smile!

The animation is a musical, so there’s a lot of fun songs and sad ones. And lots and lots of piano playing! This is what I love about Tim’s movies. He really wakens up all your senses with the visual and audio! You can’t but feeeeel throughout the movie!

You feel sorry to the characters and want everyone to be happy in the end. It’s so charming you even would love Emily! Her story is so sad and tragic, you can’t but want her as well to be happy! But then you want Victor and Victoria to be happy together! It’s the best dark creepy yet enchanting love triangle!

I really admired Depp’s performance, even though it was just his voice, but the way he changed it and made it softer to convey Victor’s true character is brilliant!

Like Edward Scissorhands with the housewives, this movie also has, emm I don’t want to say a stereotype, but more like a social concept. The parents, how the Lord family went bust and the fish merchant is super wealthy. It shows the shift in Europe when land owners started to lose their lands and domination as the world changed.

Other thing that I noticed, which is odd yet clever; the fact that the land of the living was gray but when you went downstairs to the dead, they were all colorful! For me I think, it’s the idea how society are so dull and strict and you actually feel more alive when life is more quirky and crazy. And I do agree!

I like looking for things that are different and unique and this movie is one of them! As clichéd a love triangle can be, as novice it looks because of the new twist.

Movie Review: How To Train Your Dragon 2

Ok, so from my review on the first part (click here) you would know that I loved this movie dearly! Now in this sequel, 5 years later the village of Berk continues to live in harmony with Dragons! The peaceful living is disturb when Hiccup (Jay Baruchel) with Toothless stumble into a new lands with new dragons. The land is controlled by a Dragon Master, Drago (Djimon Hounsou), who ruthlessly treats dragons as his weapons of destruction!  Other than that Hiccup is surprised to meet the one he always thought was dead, his mother (Cate Blanchett, who I adore!!).

I will say no more about the story, because this is just a drop in the plot! But I will say this, I love love love this movie!!! I was so into it, super excited and caught into that amazing world of Vikings and Dragons that I didn’t even take notes for this review. This part still kept all what is good in the first one, still funny, adventurous, witty and plain cute! Then it added a whole bundle of great new elements to it!

I was blown away by the flying maneuvers and technics used. Being 5 years together Hiccup and Toothless needed to show how much they bounded and the animators did a marvelous job! They added new stuff and moves. I was breath taken! You can tell their attention to detail and research on flying and of course the money spent on it hahaha.

I even cried! “You have the heart of a Chief and the soul of a Dragon”

There’s no more to say, Go WATCH IT! And please do watch the first one too, if you haven’t yet. It’s better to get into the world from the start <3

Such an AMAZING and thrilling dragon ride!!

Movie Review: How To Train Your Dragon

This is by far my favorite none Disney animation of all times!! I love Vikings and I love Dragons and this movie have both! It’s action packed and full with Dragon fights!! Therefore this movie is AWESOMELY SICK!

It’s the story of Hiccup (Jay Baruchel) a young Viking who is keen to kill his first Dragon and mount up to his father’s (Gerard Butler) expectations. As known by everyone in the Berk village, Hiccup is weird, troublesome and just plain different. When Dragons attacked the village, Hiccup miraculously hit one of them, the most deadly one, Night Fury! But no one saw the beast falling deep in the forest and didn’t believe him. When he went to find it to try and show everyone how a true Viking he is, he finds Night Fury wounded and scared. Because Hiccup is truly different, he decides not to kill it and help the beast with his wound and with that the cutest best friendship begins!

This is not all, many things happen and the story picks up!! It’s so exciting and really entertaining! The script is hilarious! Just sharp and witty! There are just too many lines that stick in your head! It what makes this animation adult appropriate!! Or maybe crazy adults :p like me. I watched this movie maybe three times! Is it obvious how much I love it :p?!

What I loved as well is the scenes with the recruits training where all the teen Vikings go to train on how to kill a dragon!! There are different types of dragons and their different shapes, colors and powers are freaking awesome!! There’s even a Dragon book that the recruits study from!! You can tell there’s been a lot of thinking going on to build all that world!!

What I love as well is this movie is about accepting yourself and how you can show that being different is not wrong, it’s actually sometimes needed. It is those who question the way of life who can find new better ways to live it! It’s also about the unexpected friendship between Hiccup and Toothless (The Dragon). It’s so sweet and just heartwarming. You’d be amazed by the things and people you will find if only you opened your heart and mind a little ;). 

So Highly Recommended!! I’m super excited for How To Train Your Dragon 2!!! Coming out THIS Summer!!! CAN’T WAIT!!! I saw the trailer! Amazzzzzzzing!! Check it here.
